Spartan was founded in 2006 By Brad Hill, the owner of Desert Electric in St. Anthony, Idaho. Brad wanted to implement the latest technology to help electric utility companies manage their smart grid projects. To accomplish this he created a team of the following specialists:

Spartan has done all of the electrical contracting and field service work for the Idaho Power and PacifiCorp irrigation demand side managed (DSM) programs since 2006. These projects have been executed with features that serve both the electric utilities and the consumer and have involved the installation and service of automated demand response technology at approximately 6,500 sites across the service territories of both utilities.

Spartan has created a system to help Power companies like Rocky Mountain Power and Idaho Power, transfer energy use from one location to another.
